The Gatekeepers of Illiteracy

We've seen that word, read it on many occassions knew what it meant and passed on. What we've have not fully understood is the devastating consequences of not being able to read write and understand! But we are seeing the results of a lack of education, a misinterpretation of our incomprehension and the"stolid silence of ordinary people" because they are confused about, bewildered about and choose to dismiss because they do not have the education to make "an informed choice" so they wander into a secure and safe place where they do not need to make a choice! In effect they are subjected to a quality of life they may not have chosen given the help and assistance needed at the point of their need!
A Conflict Theory! That got us thinking! The NHS, The Education, The Prison Services, Governments.
The Oxford definition of the word conflict- A disagreement through which the parties involved perceive a threat to their needs, interests and concerns. Parties respond to conflicts on the basis of the knowledge they have about the issue at hand and people very readily take sides. Resolutions to conflicts can prove challenging and time consuming to address. Environments can make problems worse! Outdated buildings? Outdated equipment?
No doubt by adopting this attitude at Femme Internationale we will be disturbing the comfortable complacency of many. It may remove the "don't do what I do, do as I say " brigade. You have a right to contribute your ideas and questions regarding all of these issues instead of sitting back and thinking that nothing ever changes or is allowed to change. Since our interest is Change happening for Women by Women to become much more informed regarding hormonal health, it's effect on family life,personal life and work life and indeed the community as a whole we will continue to discuss "issues affecting us all" Eliz.11. We will shortly be asking for your contribution to effect change and would appreciate your input. Help us empty hospital beds not fill them.
